Clinic by Kevin Jardine
Ski Director of Challenge Aspen
On September 7, 2006, a delegation of
Challenge Aspen from Aspen, Colorado,
sister city of Bariloche, visited Bariloche to promote relations with
Fundacion
Desafio Bariloche.
Among them were Mr. Houston Cowan (CEO and co-founder of Challenge Aspen) and
Mr. Kevin Jardine (ski director of this institution and former head coach of the
national Paralympic team of the United States).
On September 8th and 9th 2006, we had the opportunity to participate in the
clinic offered by
Kevin Jardine explaining about the techniques and equipment of
adapted skiing, along with
Tom Brummel, coach of Desafio Bariloche.
There were also lectures about the initiation and coaching of persons with
disabilities in the mountains, along with the participation of
Houston Cowan,
Luis Suero of
Asociacion Cre-Arte and all members of
Desafio Bariloche.
The clinic, which took place on the slopes of
Mt. Catedral (exercise) and in the
Shopping Las Terrazas Mall (theory), was held for the instructors of the
different ski schools in Bariloche as well as for volunteers, making a great
impact on all participants.
We would like to extend our special thanks to
Catedral Alta Patagonia who
gave us free access to the lifts as usual!
